Fancy French Breakfast Treats

Ingredients:

Muffins:
2 cups flour
¾ cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 egg
1 ¼ cups milk
6 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping:
⅔ sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter, melted

What to do:

  1. Stir the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg. Mix in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla.

  3. Pour the egg mixture over the flour mixture, and stir until all the flour is mixed in.

  4. Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners or grease the cups. Spoon the batter into the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake the muffins for 20 minutes or until light brown.

  5. While the muffins cool slightly, mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Pour the melted butter into a separate bowl.

  6. Roll the warm muffins first in the melted butter and then in the cinnamon sugar.
