Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients
4 large green tomatoes (thick sliced)
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Salt and pepper
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups self-rising cornmeal
3 cups vegetable oil

Instructions
Place sliced tomatoes in shallow dish.  Pour buttermilk over.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Combine flour and cornmeal in another shallow dish and dredge tomatoes in this mixture.  Heat oil in pan.  Test pan for readiness with drops of water -- it sizzles when the oil is ready.  Fry tomatoes in batches and drain on paper towel.

Preschool Reading Program Ends July 31

Women’s Missionary Union Regional Annual Meeting

Ladies! The Women’s Missionary Union regional Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Hwy 441 S from 9-12. The cost is $15. The meetings are very interesting and since it is being held 4 miles from our church, it would wonderful for us to go. We will have wonderful speakers and it would be an excellent way to meet other WMU members in our county and Western NC. Hope you can attend! Pool Party for Children and Families THIS Sunday!

THIS Sunday, July 30, right after church, all families with children through 5th grade are invited to a pool party at the home of Jeff and Melanie Joiner.  We will have a pizza lunch (Dutch treat) and have fun cooling off in the pool.
