If you have fabric suitable for making aprons, bring it along with basic sewing supplies, a portable sewing machine (if you have one), and your lunch. Come for a fun afternoon of fellowship with other church members and women from the community.  Please call Cheryl Beck at 421-3820 if you have questions.

Children's Missions Programs Need Your Help!

Volunteers are needed to help with GAs, RAs, and Mission Friends beginning with the start of the new school year.  Training will be available.   You'll have a part in watching children grow and mature in their faith as they learn more about missions and God's special place for them in the world.  Come be a part of this vital ministry of our church.  Contact Sandra James or Cheryl Beck to get involved.

Ruby Daniel Group

The Ruby Daniel WMU Group will meet on Tuesday, July 11th, at 1:00 p.m., in the Mission and Fellowship Center.  Peggy Revis will lead the group in creating beautiful handmade cards that will be used for sharing when a special "thinking of you" is needed.  Anyone interested in helping is invited to attend.  Please bring a bottle of glue and scissors.  Also, please bring personal care items (deodorant, soap, etc.) for the Clean Slate participants.

Shining Stars Project

On Mother's Day, WMU launched our Shining Stars project with a two-fold objective:

     1.  To collect money for a variety of statewide missions projects for the Heck-Jones
          WMU NC Offering and,
     2.  To honor those people who have been "Shining Stars" guiding, modeling, and
mentoring us in our Christian walk.

Today, I am happy to report that through your generous giving, our church's contribution
to the Heck-Jones Offering was $1,576.00 with a $1000 match from an anonymous donor, the total amount comes to $2,576.00.

And.......over 75 women and men were remember for the important role they played in the lives of many in our congregation.  Please take time to look at the bulletin board outside the choir room where you will see the Shining Stars honored through the project.

Daniel 12:3 says:  "And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament;  and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."

Thank you!

Shining Stars

We all have people in our lives who have made a real difference.  It's not too late to recognize them through our WMU Shining Stars project.  Remember, for each person recognized, include $10, write down their name and put it in the Special Offerings envelope or turn in to the church office by May 31st. (Make checks payable to FBC.) Look for their "star" on the bulletin board outside the choir room.  All contributions help fund WMU NC projects.  This is a great way to honor someone and to help someone at the same time!

Shining Stars

Recognize the "Shining Stars" in your life -- those people who have played an important role in your Christian walk -- by purchasing a "star" from WMU.  The stars cost $10.00 for each person you wish to honor.  "Shining Stars" will be displayed on the bulletin board outside the choir room.  All monies collected will go to the Heck-Jones Offering for WMU NC to fund a variety of missions projects.

Please participate by placing your money in the Heck-Jones Offering envelope or in the blue "Special Offerings" envelope in the pew rack.  Be sure to write on the envelope the name of the person you are honoring.  (Checks should be made out to "First Baptist Church".)  The envelope can be placed in the offering plate or dropped by the church office between now and May 31st.

NEWS FLASH!  Last Sunday, Sandra James informed the congregation that an anonymous donor will match the contributions up to $1000.00.  Let's make it happen!

Shining Stars

Is there a woman who has been instrumental to you in your Christian walk?  Perhaps a special woman has been an encourager, teacher, or mentor -- a "shining star" for you.

Honor that person or persons by purchasing a star from WMU for only $10.00 ($10 per person honored).  Over the next few weeks the stars will be displayed on the bulletin board outside the choir room with the woman's name and your name on them.  The money collected will go to the Heck-Jones Offering for various statewide WMU projects such as Camp Mundo Vista, prison retreat, Christian Women's Job Corps, etc.  (Remember last year's Egg Money Thankfulness Project?)

On Mother's Day we will kick off the "Shining Stars" project.  In your bulletin you will receive a prayer guide with seven stories of people that Shine like stars in their various communities and ministries.  There will also be an offering envelope for you to purchase one or more stars.  Just write the name(s) of your special women on the back of the envelope and enclose a check or money and place it in the offering plate or return to the church office.  Please make your contribution by May 28th.

Thank you for your generosity and thank you for remembering these special women.  What a wonderful and meaningful way to honor someone for their influence in your life!
