Vests for RAs and GAs

A few of our church ladies got together and were able to sew 50 vests for RAs and GAs, our children's mission groups! We are so thankful that they took time out of their days to make these for the children of our church so they can wear and display their badges on them!

Balance Series Starts March 6th

As part of WMU's ongoing commitment to promoting health and wellness in our congregation and in the community, a new program is being offered.  "A Matter of Balance", an evidence-based, award-winning series, will be offered on Monday mornings, starting March 6th and running through April 24th.  The program will be in the Mission and Fellowship Center, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

A Matter of Balance has been shown to help reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falling.  Exercise will be used to help increase strength and balance.  Sherrie Peeler from NC Cooperative Extension and Jeannie Mathews from the Area Agency on Aging will be the instructors.  Please contact Cheryl Beck at cheryl_beck@ncsu.edu or 369-6909 to register to attend.  There is no charge.

Vest Sewing Marathon!

Come to the Mission and Fellowship Center on Friday, February 24th, any time between 9:30 and 3:30 to help finish the vests for the RAs and GAs.  This has been an ambitious project with a few faithful women making over 50 lined vests for our children to use in mission education projects.  Your help is needed to complete the vests as soon as possible.  Bring your lunch and basic sewing equipment.  Let's finish those vests!

Vests and More Vests!

Help! WMU has learned that 32 vests are needed for Royal Ambassadors to use to display missions badges they earn. A small group of women has met twice to make GA and RA vests but we need more help in order to complete the vests in the next few weeks.

If you can sew -- you are needed.
If you can't sew -- you are needed.
There is much to do - from ironing, to cutting out the vest patterns, to sewing.

Our next workday is Monday, February 13th from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM, in the Mission and Fellowship Center. Bring a snack to share for lunch. Call or email Cheryl Beck -- 369-6909, cheryl_beck@ncsu.edu if you can help. If you can't be there but could sew at home, that would be great too.

Let's show our support to the RAs and GAs as they learn more about missions.

"By All Means" -- That's the theme of this year's annual meeting of Women's Missionary Union of North Carolina, which will be held Friday, March 24th and Saturday, March 25th, at First Baptist Church, Greensboro. Outstanding workshops, inspiring music, and creative worship will encourage and motivate. The featured speakers are Nik and Ruth Ripken who served as missionaries in Africa for 30 years. Nik is the author of The Insanity of God and The Insanity of Obedience. Linda Cooper, the National WMU President, will also speak.

If you'd like to participate in this overnight meeting, contact Cheryl Beck. You'll be glad you did!
