“Birds” was the theme of After School the week of February 20-24. A variety of activities centered around this theme including Chapel. One highlight of the week was making bird feeders with pine cones, peanut butter and bird seed. Thank you to Jennie Hunter for supplying big pine cones!
Romona Monteith came from the Jackson County Public Library for a reading session with the children and she will be coming every other week. The 1st Explorers were excited to welcome Diane Shallot, a retired music teacher, who is coming every Monday to work with them using the ORFF instruments. You should hear the joyful noise they are making!
On Wednesday, RAs and GAs met with Reverend Mathis in the Sanctuary to observe Ash Wednesday. It was a very special time.
The staff had an in-service training time with Curtis Collins from the Health Department. They enjoyed a meal and learning more about “emotional regulation” as it pertains to working with children.
First Explorers is full of enrichment, learning, and fun!
