1st Explorers Update

Melanie Stokely, On-Site Coordinator for 1st Explorers, reports that there has was a bevy of activity at the after school ministry last week. The theme was "Giving" and many volunteers gave of their time to help make the week special.

On Monday, Gina Frazier provided snacks and lots of craft supplies for BEAUTIFUL Christmas tree ornaments.

On Tuesday, Emily Taylor, our resident science instructor, coordinated a "FREE STANDING TOWER" challenge. It was great fun to watch groups try their best to achieve the highest tower!

Friday, Tonya Lloyd and Ruth McConnell brought together a cadre of volunteers to help the 1st Explorers make CHRISTMAS COOKIES. They supplied everything from homemade cookie dough, rolling pins, and cookie cutters to festive Christmas themed sprinkles for decorating. Joy was had by all!

That same day, the Kappa Gamma chapter of Sigma Chi from WCU hosted a Christmas party for the children. 1st Explorers made graham cracker houses, had a Christmas Coloring Sheet Contest (winners announced soon), and played a challenging game of Santa's Hat Towers. There was also a friendly boys versus girls Giant Toy Soldier Coloring Competition followed up with a cool Christmas wreath craft.

Thank you to all the folks who assisted this week at our church's after school ministry!
