Missions Meditation | Ramona Beam, Southern Africa

Ramona Beam, Southern Africa

Ramona Beam, Southern Africa

Ramona lives in Zimbabwe’s second-largest city and facilitates church planting, ministry to women, children, and youth and community development.

Language learning can be vital in establishing friendships, yet even the best attempts can end up with a language blunder at some point. When Ramona met a woman who was also a widow, she was eager to practice her new language skills. Although she meant to say, “I’m a widow, just like you,” the words for widow and picture in the local language are very similar. Well, you get the idea.

Although there are challenges in being a single female in a male-dominated society, Ramona has built some close friendships with trusted, local African partners. She is grateful for these national friends who have become like family to her.

Join her in praying for the global pandemic’s impact in Zimbabwe. Also, pray Zimbabwe would receive more rain in the upcoming rainy season. After two years of drought, water levels in the landlocked nation are dangerously low, which has impacted the water situation in the city of Bulawayo, where she lives.
