Study Buddies Needs Your Help!

We are all aware that our students are in the midst of a new way of learning. This new system requires them to work in smaller groups and more independently. As they work away from their schools and classroom teachers, others must step in to help fill the gap.  If there was ever a time for those called to teach to answer that call, that time is now!

Each person learns somewhat differently.  Some are fine working on their own. Others desperately need in person guidance from a tutor or teacher. This leaves many children struggling to adapt to an unfamiliar style of learning. In times like these, it becomes even more necessary for those with teaching experience to step up and help those who are struggling to stay on track.  What a wonderful opportunity for retired teachers to use their God-given talents to assist these children. The love of learning, and the joy of lighting up a student to new ideas and knowledge, is what drives a teacher.  Even on the College level, it energizes me when one of my students “gets it” for the first time.  If you are a teacher, that is what you live for!

We have an opportunity to be that “spark” for the students within our reach. If you spent your life teaching students at the elementary, middle school, high school or even college level, now is a time when your gifts are needed. Consider volunteering an hour a week in our Study Buddies program. Come and assist a child who is struggling to keep up, due to little contact with their classroom teachers. It may be as simple as reading a story with them, helping them learn basic math, or using logic to help solve a problem.  Our greatest need is with our youngest students who have yet to build the skills necessary to work independently.  If you were an educator, called to teach, we need you. Please contact me at (828) 736-2503 if you are willing to answer the call to serve!
