Easter Egg Hunt Filled with Fun

Strider Drum was intent on filling his basket at the annual Egg Hunt after church on Sunday.

At the count of 3, children took to the church yard after Easter services and filled their baskets with dozens of eggs.  Preschoolers had their own area and they quickly gathered eggs to the delight of parents and other church members.  The "golden eggs" were found by Siler Messer (preschooler) and Reid Brown (school-aged children).  They will be receiving gift certificates for ice cream from Jack the Dipper.  Each child received a bag full of candy thanks to all those who contributed to the "Easter Bunny Box" in the Loving Kindness Room.

Easter Surprise Cookies

This is the recipe for the cookies that Cheryl used in the Children’s Message on Easter Sunday.

Ingredients

COOKIE:
2/3 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
48 jelly beans

GLAZE:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
5 to 6 teaspoons milk
1 1/3 cups sweetened flaked coconut
Food color, if desired

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine all cookie ingredients except flour and jelly beans in bowl.  Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.  Stir in flour until well mixed.

Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls.  Place 1 jelly bean in center of each ball making sure candy is covered with dough.  Place cookies 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake 15-18 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.  Cool completely.

Combine powdered sugar and enough milk for desired glazing consistency in bowl;  stir until smooth.  Tint coconut with food color, if desired.  Dip tops of cookies in glaze;  sprinkle with coconut.

Tip:  To tint coconut, divide coconut evenly among desired number of small bowls.  Add 1 to 2 drops of one food color to each bowl.  Mix with fork until color is evenly distributed.

Heck-Jones Mission Offering

The GA’s handed out envelopes and information on the Heck-Jones Mission Offering. If you have not returned your donation, please do it as soon as possible by placing the envelope in the offering plate on Sunday or leaving it in the office with Janice. The WMU office in Greensboro uses these donations to be self supportive of Cooperative Baptist Woman’s Missionary Union. The staff uses these funds to help with education for the churches in NC. They do a wonderful job!

Learning, Sharing, Listening, Growing

TONIGHT, April 12 at 6:00 PM
in the Gathering Place Room

Join us for a season of discovery as we learn how our personal narrative has shaped and influenced our lives. With the help of the enneagram and the book, The Story of You: An Enneagram Journey to Becoming Your True Self by Ian Cron, we will learn the joy of knowing that God helps us write a new and healthier story to live by. This multi-week experience will serve as both an introduction and enrichment to the enneagram as a tool for better understanding ourselves in relationship to the world around us.

The care team will continue to meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:00. NOTE: This coincides with the Enneagram study that Dr. Mathis is leading at the same time. Adults can attend the study while their children are making the visits.
