A Note from Joseph and Jessie Moon

First Baptist family,

Jessie and I are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown towards us and our Moon babies by you. Not only at the shower, but in the 4 years that we have been here. 

It was not an easy decision for us to leave First Baptist, but we are so thankful for the time we've had with you all.  We are already looking forward to visiting in the future. 

We know that the opportunity for us to be in Asheville is part of God's plan for us. We are very appreciative of everyone's support and encouragement.

Baby Shower for Jessie and Joseph Moon

Please come to a baby shower honoring Jessie and Joseph Moon and their two baby Moons (boy and girl). The shower will be April 9th from 2:00 – 3:30 PM in the Mission Fellowship Center. The babies are registered at Babies R’ Us, Target and Walmart.

Jessie and Joseph will be making their home in Asheville in the near future, due to Joseph's job. They have been such a blessing and asset to our church for several years. We are sad to see them go, but we pray for God's blessings on them.

Homebase College Ministry

Homebase is a new college student ministry at Western Carolina University that provides services, assistance and training for students who have aged out of foster care and residential centers. Through its dynamic outreach center, Homebase, students who have no parental or family support can get help navigating their college experience. The center offers classes, food assistance, laundry facilities, a computer center, and emergency housing. Homebase is a resource for students to connect with each other and caring people they can count on. The ministry is led by former pastor, Dr. Jim Dean. Individuals can assist this ministry by providing $5, $10, and $15 gift cards from local grocery stores, gas stations, and businesses that can be used to help support student needs. Donations of cleaning supplies, paper towels, and toilet paper are also helpful. Homebase is usually open from 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM Monday through Friday. Feel free to contact Jim Dean at 508-0035 for more information. Homebase is a ministry of the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina.

Baseball Team Luncheon

We would like to give a huge thank you to our church and kitchen team and volunteers who helped provide the hospitality for the Smoky Mountain high school JV and varsity baseball teams this past Sunday!

The Smoky Mountain High School JV and Varsity Baseball teams will be our guests in worship this Sunday, March 19th. Be on the lookout for them and make sure to give them a gracious welcome!

Baby Shower for Afton and Jameson Stout

Please come to a baby shower honoring Afton and Jameson Stout on Sunday, March 19th from 2:00-3:30 PM in the Mission and Fellowship Center. Their baby girl is registered at Amazon.com and for diapers and wipes.

Baseball Team Lunch

On Sunday, March 19th, we will be hosting a luncheon for the Smoky Mountain high school baseball team. The food will be provided, but we are asking church members to provide dessert for the team. If you are willing to contribute a dessert to the luncheon, please contact Ruth McConnell at 506-8827.

Service Opportunity

Meals on Wheels needs help in the Cullowhee and Savannah areas to deliver meals once a week from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  Please call 631-8044 if you can help. Thanks a bunch!
